Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
