Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism made him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
